Dearg Fánán Scroll
The path to Dearg Fánán
I was requested to reach the Dearg Fánán covenant using instructions of the covenant’s member, Jacinta Flanigan. The letter from Jacinta was quite clear and I was able to arrive at the covenant without much trouble.
Travelers on foot should follow King Orrey’s Road, from Castletown. After about 3 hours (5 miles) to the north, the Silverburn’s source should be visible. It is at that point that crossing the river and the forest beyond directly to the west should lead to Dearg Fánán. The covenant lies about 1 mile westward and can be easily identified by the large circle of white stone in it center.
When asked about the circle’s nature and origin, I was simply told with a sly smile that it is “Our giant’s residence and farm.”
One should note that traveling with a cart or a horse to the meadow is not as easy. I would advise landing at Balley Rushen and making your way through Foxdale. A lucky traveler on a lucky season might be able to push through the hills surrounding Dauby mountain.
